Located just off Wheeler Road, in Stonington. Maple Lawn Farm has two driveways, take care to enter in the lower gravel/dirt driveway (not the drive to the main house). The land where the labyrinth stands is the ancestral home of the Pequot people. Many of the stones in the labyrinth were harvested from piles along the perimeter of the old walls that delineate the fields on the farm. As the community uncovered these stones, they had good reason to imagine they were initially cleared by the enslaved, indentured, and hired hands of the past. Today, these stones, carried to the grove and thoughtfully placed, reconfigured to outline the labyrinth’s path. A dedication to the labyrinth reads: In honor of those who carried stones, whether by choice, indenture or enslavement.
