While a permanent feature, it is placed in a lawn allowing for seasonal growth of self-sown meadow flora in the summer months either side of the path. In winter the low lying cut vegetation along the path verge dramatically offsets the 4000 plus Crocus vernus (Dutch crocus) that in early spring line the path in a vivid hue of yellow, purple and white flowers.
